Review: Captain Marvel: Stay Fly takes us to outer space with Carol Danvers and her pet cat Chewie. Amidst recurring nightmares about missions gone wrong and friends she couldn't save, the Captain finds herself with an unwanted visitor onboard her ship - Guardian of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon! In this action-packed volume, Carol finds out that Chewie is less cat and more a fluffy rare alien creature called a flerken...and has just given birth to a hundred-odd flerkitties! Rocket looks at Chewie and sees dollar signs, but Captain Marvel is not having any of that. Their cat-related-spat has to be put on hold when an alien entity tries to destroy their ship and steal Chewie away. Carol, Rocket and Chewie team up to make a formidable fighting force, saving the day as well as saving all the flerkitties!

This book is a space adventure with plenty of comedy and some intensely introspective moments. Carol seems like a fearless warrior but her friendships and reflections show us how protective she can be about the ones she loves. The art in Captain Marvel: Stay Fly explodes off the page, allowing you to immerse yourself in the action of outer space and really feel Carol's powers coming to life. This comic is about connecting with what's important and defending it at all costs, but its dark edges are wrapped with a sense of fast-paced fun, making it a joy of a journey to read.

Recommended for: Adult comic fans are going to get them most out of this one - think brightly-coloured Star Wars in a book!
